dennis cordellos

guitar

Dennis “Dino” Cordellos was born in San Francisco and raised in Sonoma from the age of three. In elementary school Dino was playing trumpet and guitar in school bands and by high school performing at school dances. With strong family support Dennis attended Bear Wallow School at Westerbeck Ranch studying music theory alongside academics and outdoor survival skills — an experience that greatly shaped his life.

After college Dennis made a living for 10 years playing music across the U.S. with his band, The Pacific Coast Highway. Along the way, he landed a guitar gig at the Playboy Club in San Francisco and later the Phoenix Playboy Club. In the late '70s Dennis returned to California to focus on songwriting and performing around the San Francisco Bay Area. Like today, during this time Dennis worked as a session guitarist, working on numerous recording projects at studios including Wally’s Heider Recording Studio in San Francisco.

Carlos Santana and Albert Collins fueled Dennis’s love of blues, while Wes Montgomery and George Benson deepened his passion for jazz — two musical styles Dennis brings to the music of the Grateful Heart Band.

Tom Miller

vocals & bass guitar

With a lifelong passion for music, Tommy found his love for bass guitar at an early age. First learning to play the bass guitar by ear, inspired by the musicians he admired. Without any formal lessons, he joined his school bands in junior high and high school playing at school dances and solidifying his love for performing.

In his early 20s, Tom formed a three-piece band with friends, performing at local coffee houses and restaurants in Walnut Creek, CA. This was his first experience as a paid musician, which led to gigs throughout the SF Bay Area. During this time Tom met and played with Doug Clifford ("Cosmo"), the drummer for Creedence Clearwater Revival.

In his 30s Tom began a decade-long journey touring with the Gregg Allman Band (1994-2004). This experience was incredibly instructive and solidified his passion for performing at a professional level. During this time Tom was invited to join the Alameda All Stars.

Inspired by a wide range of musicians, including bassists like Rick Danko (The Band), Paul McCartney (The Beatles), and Chris Squire (Yes). as well as vocalists such as Don Henley (The Eagles) and Paul Rodgers (Free and Bad Company) Tom’s musical taste expanded, spanning many genres, from Led Zeppelin to John Prine, and Joni Mitchell to Joe Jackson.

Michael Israel

Drummer

Michael began his career in the New York music scene as a session and touring musician later moving to Sonoma. Michael's passion for live performance and love for ensemble music guides every performance of the Grateful Heart with a mix of fusion stylings, deep groove, along with a good rock sensibility.

Michael has recorded with Joe Bonamassa, Tony MacAlpine, Greg Howe, Roger Glover (Deep Purple), Noel Redding, Richard Tee, Will Lee, Roger Ball (Average White Band), Norah Jones, Vaneese Thomas, Iggy Pop, Tony Levin, Michael John Ahern, and Ivan Julian as well as touring with A Flock of Seagulls, and Viv and Willi Jones. Michael has performed on numerous sound tracks including Frankenhooker and Basquiat.

Michael is an avid drummer collector and crazy for cymbals. Working with Dave Weckl, initially as his drum tech, Michael provided help and input of the creation of both Evolution and Legacy cymbals for Sabian.

Michael endorses Sabian Cymbals and Vic Firth drumsticks.

Bob began playing and recording music at age five, becoming a church organist by 13. Influenced by innovative keyboardists like Gregg Rolie (Santana), Jan Hammer (Jeff Beck), and Tony Williams (Tony Williams Lifetime band).

Bob enjoys a wide range of music, often going through phases of different styles. His professional journey began after graduating from Sonoma State University, when he joined the R&B and soul band The Value Kings, playing extensively throughout California for five years in the 1980s. He then joined Gamma with Davey Pattison, evolving from a duo to an 11-piece band. For the next two decades, he played with various Bay Area bands, including a church gig as a pianist.

From 2010 to 2023, Bob played with the R&B blues soul singer and guitarist Levi Lloyd, a collaboration he greatly enjoyed. After Levi's passing in 2023, he formed The Workshop, adding a saxophone to the mix, and continues to play gigs in the Bay Area. Along with the Grateful Heart Band Bob is a member of Pete Floyd, a premier San Francisco-based Pink Floyd tribute band.
